There as many news channels in Telugu as many fingers I have,
I guess even more than that. New channel is getting added to the
list of existing channels every fortnight.The purpose of this blog
is to find out the answers for the below questions. Do we really
need these many news channels, what are they actually
telecasting and where are they driving the society?
Few years back there was no dedicated news channel in Telugu.
They used to telecast a day’s happenings in 1 hour that to not at
a stretch but divided into 2 halves one session in the morning
and one in the evening. Then suddenly why did so many news
channels crop up?Is it that suddenly news channel owners found
much more news than before to start a dedicated news channel
or they thought this to be the best source to generate money?
If we watch any news channel we will immediately get an answer
and the unambiguous answer is money generation.
What are these 24/7 news channels telecasting? They are not
just telecasting the news, but telecasting the news in an
entertaining way , but entertaining in a wrong way.
Its VULGAR!!!!. Whatever may be the news they add
relevant background music or movie songs. If someone dies
they play sad songs, show the same thing for days and if some
celebrity gets married they telecast this live. These channels
repeat the same news for days. Is it that these channels do
not find proper news or the only thing they are interested in
is TRP ratings by showcasing/telecasting some popular event
or incident ?? All these channels know only three things politics,
movies and crimes and if three of them are related then that
will be a FESTIVAL for them.
Many news channels have dedicated shows that replicate how a
crime was committed and also tell the viewers the best possible
way to escape. These news channels use suitable anchors, who
look like rowdies for these shows. These guys show vulgar scenes
in a movie and talks about culture and the worst part or rather
the hypocritical part is they telecast the same kind of shows,
the so called masala shows at night.
Issues related to release of one movie can become news for 2
days and not just news PRIME TIME NEWS!!!! And this will
help the movie a lot. During elections time they only bothered
about elections. Almost all of these channels are biased and
support a specific party or a hero.
They have stripped of all professionalism by showing vulgar
news items like MMS clips and .. to get popularity.
They bank on masala events rather than on good news items.
Not even a single news channel tries to educate people. They
show debates on 2012 and Big Bang theory in a controversial
way; to be precise they show those kinds of news items
which will terrify people rather than revealing facts about
them. The famous conclusion dialogue of the TV show on Big
Bang Experiment is “manam brathikunte” (If we live!!!!!).
Every week they telecast about 2012 to remind people about
this. For e.g. take the recent news item about YSR’s death
which TV5 telecasted after one month of his death. Two days
the news was telecasted without any one even trying to
analyze whether it’s a fact or not. Once the law comes into
picture they say the law is violating media rights, you cannot
stop us from telecasting. How fair is this when it actually
affects people drastically. Reliance was hit badly.Who will
replay reliance for the losses that they incurred during
those days.
I strongly feel that our news channels are driving us
towards a paranoid and worse society rather than towards
a better society. According to me a news channel should
educate people about the current affairs, historical items,
anything genuine and not create controversies out of
factual information. A genuine request to News Channels
please do refrain from passing wrong information,
facts are more interesting than all this rubbish that
you showcase!!!!
